Concert:  Sunday 6 June

Trío Tlayoltiyane, with Osíris Ramsés Caballero León

If you can, please donate to the musicians!  For over a year, these players have lost gigs and income.  Sharing music is a delight for them and for us – let’s give them a hand!

Trío Tlayoltiyane (“The Creators” in the Nahuatl language) was founded in 1986 in Veracruz, Mexico, by Antonio Hernández Meza.  The group has toured Mexico and beyond, including to Spain, France, Belgium, Argentina, Chile, and the United States, presenting Huastecan music from the Gulf coast of Mexico.   The fiddle trio – fiddle plus high and bass guitars – is the primary traditional instrumental group of the region.  The Huasteca were influential in that area for 700 years until the Aztecs took over in the 1400s, followed by the Spaniards 60 years later.
